I believe that effective therapy is a deeply collaborative journey. You are the expert on your own life, and my role is to walk alongside you, offering guidance, tools, and a safe space to explore & heal. We will work together to understand your unique experiences and tailor a path forward that truly resonates with you.
My approach is integrative, meaning I draw from a variety of evidence-based methods to best suit your individual needs and goals. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all solution. Instead, I focus on getting to the root of the issues you're facing with time by not just addressing your surface-level symptoms. This approach allows for a more profound & lasting change.
Key therapeutic modalities I often incorporate include:
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT): This practical approach helps us understand the connection between your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. Together, we can identify unhelpful patterns and develop new, healthier ways of thinking and coping that can lead to significant improvements in how you feel and function.
Narrative Therapy: We all have stories we tell ourselves about our lives and our identities. Sometimes these stories can be limiting or painful. Narrative Therapy empowers you to re-examine these stories, identify your strengths and values, and begin to "re-author" your life in a way that is more aligned with your preferred future and a more positive sense of self.
Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) (for children, adolescents, and even adults!): Play is a natural language, especially for younger individuals, but its power isn't limited by age. For children, adolescents, and sometimes even adults, non-driective play-based and expressive techniques can provide a unique and powerful way to communicate difficult emotions, process experiences, build coping skills, and solve problems when words alone aren't enough. This may include drawing, painting, sand tray, music, expressive writing, or games.
Somatic Therapy: A holistic therapeutic approach that focuses on the intricate connection between the mind and body to address psychological and emotional distress, particularly related to trauma, anxiety, and stress. The term "somatic" comes from the Greek word "soma," meaning "body. Somatic exercises can help reduce stress, improve coping, and create a secure mind/body connection that enhances healing.
Ultimately, my goal is to help you uncover your inner strengths, develop new insights and skills, and move towards a life that feels more authentic, fulfilling, and empowered. I am committed to providing a supportive, non-judgmental, and inclusive environment where you can explore, heal, and grow.
